My little artist

I was going through a huge stack of papers on the kitchen table that Maya had colored on and I was amazed at what I found. Seriously, this girl is awesome. I mean, she’s only 3 years old (technically 3.5 years old, but still, THREE, that’s it).

I know that they draw happy faces at school because she told me. When they trace their name or do a good job writing their names they draw a happy face. But, it’s just amazing to me that she can remember how to do it when she gets home. And then the arms and legs and nose, she just added those all by herself. When asked her if the happy face needed some hair, she giggled and then drew it on there.

After she drew this spider web she ran over to me and was so proud. I’ll say I was pretty darn proud of her too! I mean it actually looks like a spider web! I asked her if she learned that at school and she told me she did.

And her spelling is awesome too. Every day when she’s drawing she asks me how to spell different people’s names. She always does her name first, then it’s usually mine, then daddy. Then we move on to her cousin’s name, grandma, grandpa and aunts. It’s totally cute. It’s just amazing how she remembers so much. I didn’t even help her at all with this. She was so happy to get to use Daddy’s highlighters she just sat down and drew my name. Then she showed me. I like how she used different colors for different letters.

I’ve never been so proud. I’m smiling as I type this.

And when I showed Preston the pictures and he said, “Darn, she’ll probably grow up to be an artist. There goes my doctor.”

Haha, oh well, at least she’ll have a fun job like Mommy. (;
