Coca Cola Pulled Pork
So, I got this recipe from Preston’s boss. And, I’ll say I was a bit skeptical about whether it was really thaaaat good! Preston swore it was.
There are only three ingredients involved, so I definitely liked that.
A pork shoulder
That’s it. Here’s the recipe card (CocaColaPulledPork), if you don’t want to read any further. (:
Take a pork shoulder (I did an 8 pound one, it was on sale) and place it into your crock pot. Pour in a two liter of coke (I used Sam’s Choice Cola, it worked great) and turn your crock pot on high for 8 hours. After 8 hours, dump pork and pop into a strainer in the sink. Let cool, remove all of the fat and shred the pork back into a cleaned crock. Add your favorite BBQ sauce, stir and turn on low to heat through.
Then I served on Rhodes frozen rolls (you know the frozen dough balls you can buy in the freezer section at your favorite grocery store? I even used the Kroger brand for half of my rolls because they only had one bag of Rhodes left. They were just as good, only smaller).
This pork can be made the day before, pop strained off, fat removed and shredded it to a plastic bowl and placed into the refrigerator. That’s what I did because I didn’t want to mess with shredding pork on Christmas day. So Christmas morning I pulled the cold, shredded pork out of the refrigerator, placed in a crock pot with my BBQ sauce, stirred and turned on high to heat through. And we had awesomely, moist pulled pork sandwiches for lunch!
It was seriously the best pulled pork I’ve ever eaten! Try it, you’ll love it!
