Spookley Crispy Treats
Ever heard of Spookley the Square Pumpkin? I hadn’t either. Then, last month I saw a preview for it on the Disney Channel. I decided to tape (wait, I think this should be record, since I’m not actually using tapes) it for Maya while she was at school.
We watched it on the weekend and she LOVED it. Then a few weeks later she went on a field trip with her class to the pumpkin patch and they showed the movie there too.
It’s a super cute movie with a good message. All of the other pumpkins make fun of Spookley because he’s not round. It’s not nice. And, it made me sad watching it. I would have turned it off, but it was a children’s movie so I knew there would be a good message at the end.
So, for Maya’s Halloween party at school I decided to make Spookley Crispy Treats. They turned out pretty cute.
I followed this recipe (minus the surprise candy bar in the center, the kids didn’t need the extra candy!). And for some reason every recipe I’ve ever followed for rice crispy treats never turns out that great. Not sure if it’s because I use the generic rice crispies? I always end up with about a cup of dry cereal leftover.
I’ll keep working on it. And when it’s perfect, you can be sure I’ll share.
