Alarm clock – day one

When the Stoplight Alarm Clock arrived Maya was pretty excited. I set it up and explained to her about the colors and what they meant:

Red means you should be sleeping.
Green means you can get up to play.

Maya says, “so what does orange mean?” — the yellow apparently looks orange to her. It’s actually just a nightlight feature for children who are old enough to tell time, so I just told her yellow was for sleeping too.

She was pretty excited to help me put it in her room on her bookshelf. I showed her which button turned the red light on and I told her she could only push that button right before bedtime.

We were a bit nervous about the clock and her thinking she couldn’t get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. She normally gets up once a night to pee and then for the day between 4:45-5:30 AM.

I decided to just set the clock for 6:00 AM and see what happened in the morning.

To be continued…
