How do single parents do it?
It’s 9:00 PM on a Saturday night and I’m tired. Preston left for Colorado yesterday morning and boy do I miss him. And, of course, the kids, too. And, it’s only been two days! How do single parents do it? Mad props to them.
Last night there was no one to nudge when Maddox woke up for the third time, it was 2:30 AM. So, I pulled my sleepy eyes out of bed and trudged to his room. No one was there to get up with Maya, when she rolled out of bed at 5:15 AM. I was thrilled when I convinced her to go back to her room and read some books until her alarm clock went off at 6:00 AM. Yes! 45 more minutes of sleep! But, then Maddox woke up.
I hoped for long naps for both kids. Maya slept 45 minutes. Maddox woke after 45 minutes and I had to rock him back to sleep. Which is weird, Maya normally naps 1.5 hours and Maddox 2-3 hours. I think we’re all off.
Bathtime has less splashing. Bedtime has less book reading. Rough-housing is pretty much non-existent. The giggles are fewer and the house seems quieter. We miss Daddy and he’s only been gone two days.
Hurry home, Daddy! We can’t wait to give you lots of hugs and kisses!
