A crock pot full of money
When I wrote my first post about the Crock Pot Girls I was really intrigued by the amount of likes their facebook page had gotten. I’ll say I was a bit skeptical as to whether they were real or not. By my next post I had decided that they were indeed real, but was still curious about this bro-in-law who happened to be an internet marketer. What are the odds?
Some people are wondering why someone would ever even think to create a page and get fake likes. Well, I’ll tell you my thoughts about it.
I have a friend who know a bit about programming/scripting and we had a short conversation about this:
Friend: Don’t you think if this had really gone viral I would have heard about it before you? Sounds like they paid someone a few bucks for a software package that rounds up fake likes to their page.
Me: Why would they even do that?
Friend: There could be a lot of reasons. It’s free to start a page on Facebook and not much upkeep. You can put ads on Facebook and make money that way. Or, some people drum up a ton of fake likes to make their page have more credibility, then they sell it.
So, there’s your first way to make money.
Second way, Amamzon Affiliates. Hmm, interesting that they have a tab for “recommended crock pots” — For three girls who just wanted to make a page for crock pot recipes, it sure seems fishy that they would be advertising their recommended crock pots. Now, I’m certainly not knocking Amazon Affiliates, I’m just telling you how they could be making money on this.
Third way, ads on their site. This one probably hasn’t made them much money considering their site has been down probably 14 of the 15 days they’ve had it up. I was able to get on there once right after I liked their page and it was a pretty bare site, all it had one there was a few recipes and that suspicious “recommended crockpots” tab.
I’m not hatin’ on ads or amazon affiliates. I’m hatin’ on cheaters.
And to read about what others have to say, here are a few links. Thanks for the great blog posts, ladies, I enjoyed reading them!
