Back to school in 10 easy steps
Step 1: Print school supply list and rummage around the house for supplies leftover from last year.
Step 2: Forget it. Go school supply shopping instead. You’ll find the leftovers next year.
Step 3: Unpack pencils and curse when you have to sharpen 10 boxes of #2 pencils.
Step 4: Put all NEW supplies into backpack. Or, have your kids do it. This teaches them how to be responsible for their belongings, and gives you a chance catch up on Facebook.
Step 5: Console child after the zipper breaks on their cheap, favorite cartoon-guy backpack.
Step 6: Teach them about duct tape and life lessons.
Step 7: Print school lunch menu and decide which days to make lunches. Fingers crossed you’ll never have to make another lunch ever again.
Step 8: Go shopping for a lunch bag and ice packs because your kid doesn’t like anything on the menu. Sigh.
Step 9: Celebrate with some candy from your secret stash and find 47 boxes of 24-pack crayons right next to the Snickers. Promise to store them in an easier to find place for next year.
Step 10: Repeat for the next 10 years.
