At 7:30 pm, right after the kids went to bed, I decided to go grocery shopping. As I was driving to Walmart I noticed the sun beginning to set and I got a tad bit anxious. I would just have to shop quickly, ugh, that never happens when I go to Walmart!
I started in the produce, ended in the milk and hit every aisle in-between. When I got by the milk I noticed the baby section, hmm, Maddox does need some lightweight sleepers, maybe I should just look over there. I started thinking about how it was getting dark outside, so, I promptly left there with no sleepers, but 1 cute “born in 2011″ onesie and 2 pairs of pants for Maddox, and 1 package of Mickey Mouse panties for Maya.
Crap, I forgot about the shampoo, conditioner and soap I needed! I quickly darted all the way across Walmart, meanwhile noticing all of the single women walking around. And, not only single women, but women with small children. What?!? Weren’t these women worried about someone robbing them when they walked to their cars? Grabbing their children and throwing them into the back of a van and driving off?
I got the rest of my stuff, checked out, took a deep breath and pushed my cart into the dark parking lot. Okay, so it wasn’t that dark, I guess Walmart lights their parking lot pretty well at night now. But, wait, what about those two guys walking right toward my cart? I wish I had a baseball bat or something! Oh, I guess they were just walking to the entrance… they walked around me and never even stopped talking about video games.
Whew, I made it to my car, popped the trunk and started loading the groceries up. What was that? After every sack loaded, I looked to my left and right. Ran the cart to the cart rack and quickly jumped into my car and immediately locked the doors.
I started my car and pulled around to the front of Walmart so I could get home. But first I had to slow down for a 70 year old lady who was walking from her car into Walmart… BY HERSELF!
