I can’t get no satisfaction
Last week, a guy at my work told me he had this brilliant thought. When he says this stuff I normally just make fun of him. But then he told me what it was,“We have the body we’re satisfied with. If we were truly dissatisfied by our physical state, we would do something to improve it.”
I really hate when he’s right.
And, because he asked me to not put his name on my blog, I will respect his wishes. But when his brilliant quote goes viral and is floating around the interwebs, he’s gonna be sorry. S. O. Double R. Y.
But, for real, it’s true.
For the longest time I’d tell myself I didn’t have enough time to workout. I had kids, after all. And, I worked full time. Well, lots of people have kids, work full time and still find time to workout.
I was making excuses.
I’d lose five pounds, be happy, but then go back to my same old excuses.
Then one day I decided to get serious. Apparently that was the day I decided I was no longer satisfied with my body. I lost 20 pounds and was pretty happy with myself.
I would tell myself I still had more to lose, but I didn’t really do anything about it. I guess I was back to being satisfied again.
It was quite a while later and I decided I wasn’t satisfied anymore. That’s when I started my “Couch to 5K” program. I thought I hated running, yet less than a year later I’ve got a half marathon under my belt and am currently training for a full marathon.
At this very moment, I’m happy with how far I’ve come, but I’m not completely satisfied with my body. I guess it’s time to step it up and do something to improve it.
