What are you smiling at?
So, yesterday I wrote about my daughter (she’s 5) getting her smiling gene from me (you can read about it here). Then I went to bed and started thinking about it. It made me smile just thinking about it.
Everyone always tells me how much I smile. When people see old pictures they say, “yep, same smiling triplets.” (Yes, I’m a triplet, you can read about that here). I like to smile because I like it when other people smile at me. It’s nice.
I smile when I’m nervous. I smile when I’m confused. I smile when I’m talking to you. I smile when you’re talking to me. I just smile.
I never saw a problem with smiling until a few weeks ago…
I had several people say that smiling is a form of flirting. Whaaaa. What?! I had been smiling for almost 32 years and I’m just now hearing this. Is there an age in which you need to quit smiling? Are 30-year-old women not supposed to smile anymore? Apparently not with men in the age range of puberty to death. Who knew?
Everyone except me, apparently.
In my defense, I don’t care if you’re male or female, I’m going to smile at you. So, deal with it and move on. I’m not flirting with you.
Can someone please let me know when head-tilting and talking with your hands become signs of flirting? Because my daughter gets both of those awesome traits from me too.
Sheesh! Can’t a girl be nice anymore?
