Yesterday morning I was so tired when I looked over at the florescent 4:44 on the alarm clock. Ugh. But, I rolled over and plopped out of bed at 4:45 and was at the gym, running on the track, at 5:10. It’s amazing how many people are at the gym at 5:00 in the damn morning. I guess they have their internal workout clocks set for 5 am.
You’re probably thinking, “Oh geez. Screw getting up early and exercising. I’m not doing that.” I’m totally with you. Except, now I’m signed up for this full marathon and I have to do this. Had I not been, I would not be getting up at the butt-crack of dawn and running. I mean, that’s crazy. I am not that person who gets up early to exercise, never have been.
By the time I got back home I was pumped. Showered. Kids dressed. Breakfast eaten. I drove to work, ready for the day. I was happy. I was smiling. I was in a good mood.
Then I walked into a co-worker’s office, it wasn’t long before I blurted out, “dang, you’re kinda grumpy today.” Then I walked back to my desk and sent him an email, “You didn’t work out this morning, did you?” Normally he’s that crazy person who gets up early and goes to the gym. I usually make fun of him for it. But, I’ll give him this, he’s normally in a good mood.
Today, I got up at 5:25 am, but only because Maddox was crying in his room. By the time I got to work I was grumpy. Total and complete grump face. Everything was annoying me. I had one cup of coffee. Still grumpy. I had two cups of coffee. Still grumpy. Forget it, I’ll just be grumpy all day. I mean, what gives? I got to sleep in 40 minutes later than yesterday, yet I’m dragging. I’m tired. I’m just so freaking cranky.
So, as much as I thought I’d never be writing this post, this is where I’m going to declare: After I work out, I’m happier. I’m more productive. I like myself more. All those damn endorphins are pretty good stuff. And to prove it to you, I went ahead and found 6 Convincing Reasons to Start Working Out Immediately. I like this Rob Sulaver guy already.
What time is your internal workout clock set for? And, don’t be telling me you don’t have an internal workout clock. Everyone has one. It’s just up to you whether you hit the snooze button or not.
